Microsoft Feeds Synchronization has encountered a problem

Receive an error continuously “Microsoft Feeds Synchronization has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience” in windows XP service pack 2.

The error message is a generic message shown when something has crashed under XP. According to Microsoft, Feed Synchronization comes with Internet Explorer.

In that case you can update your Internet Explorer to latest version and install latest service packs and hotfixes, Restore default setting on IE or change some settings in IE.

Step 1: -

If you have Internet explorer version 6.0 or older than first update you IE to latest version like IE 7, IE 8 or etc.

After install latest versions of IE, Still problem is same then try to go step 2.

Step 2:-

If problem is still there then try to upgrade your windows XP SP2 to Service pack 3.

Step 3:-

If still the same problem then try to disable IE feed manually from internet option in IE 7 / 8 / 9

  • Open Internet explorer from control panel or from RUN type – inetcpl.cpl or from Tools menu \ Internet option

  • Now go to content tab

[Note: - you can also open content tab of Internet option direct from command, Run type –

control.exe  inetcpl.cpl,,,3]

  • In feeds and web slices section click on settings.

  • In the Feed Settings dialog box, uncheck the "Automatically check feeds for updates" check box
